It's a always a pleasure to come across these beautiful Snowshoe Hares dressed in their white winter coats. Up to six have been frequenting a local spot, providing lots of neat sightings and photography opportunities as they chase each other around (I should go back there and attach the 100-400 zoom to catch some of that action!)

    Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC. manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/5.6, ISO 400, natural light, handheld, full-frame.

Stunning! What a treat to be able to get so close (although I admit that crop sensor + 500mm + 1.4x is not THAT close) and to make a ff portrait. I think it could be a little sharper, and for me the slightly darker zone at the very top doesn't add anything so I'd be tempted to lose a cm off the top! Otherwise perfect, beautifully exposed and expertly composed. Look at those whiskers!

Hi Daniel - nice to see you posting over here and especially an animal we don't often see posted. Great exposure, comp and detail. I agree with Ed that a little more sharpening and getting rid of the dark area at the top would take an already excellent portrait up a notch.

Hi Daniel, another cool, winter image.

Can't believe you can think about using the 100-400, the ones over here would run a mile. Fantastic backdrop, the image looks so simple, but they can be the hardest to pull off, but not for you. Looks like the DoF is spot on with detail in the ears right down to the nose. A lovely portrait.

Hi Dan, lovely portrait, simple, but it works. The detail is fantastic as you get every little white hair against a Snow White back drop. I'm with Rachel and Ed regrading taking a slicer of the top. May be a tad more sharpening, but I'm fine as is. TFS. Loi

    Different and completely wonderful!!

If it were mine I'd do some cropping on the top, halfway to the ears. Then the darker area isn't so prominent. Don't know if I would lighten it further. Im wondering about a crop from the bottom, just enough to remove the leg -- undecided.

Special shot mate, lovely exposure and detail you got here. I agree a hint more sharpening will do the trick (just don't overcook as it will of course turn scrunchy! )

Well that's pretty incredible I don't know what to say either! The dark spot on the top might be distracting I guess but I only noticed after reading another comment. I love it great job!

Daniel, a beautiful portrait of one of my favorite locals. The UL dark spot is a minor issue. You have succeeded in capturing a simple, but lovely portrait. Nice!!
