    Default Osprey with Rainbow Trout

While looking through some shots from last year, I found this one that I had overlooked. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a nice shot in your older files that you didn't get around to processing.
I thought this was kinda nice as it had a nice head angle as she flew past us positioning her catch.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. I appreciate it.

It is a real nice shot, David. Very nice wing position head turn and nice to see the eye of the fish.
I usually check the same date from the last two-tree years, it gives me some ideas as to where to go to shooting.

Amazing picture David, The kind I long to take.

I have tried to find something to critique but can fault it. One of the best osprey photos I have seen.
    Well done.

    Nice , David.
The head angle I like is the trout. The Osprey must have picked it up right before your shot,
as the head comes off really quickly....

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

Dan, Yes she had just caught it ten seconds before and had just got the trout into perfect flying position. I was happy to see the trout with a good HA also. Thanks

Thats good -(not trout wise ) but a great "as it happens" shot. Was this cropped fro landscape ?
    Cheers

Thanks John. Yes it was shot in landscape, then cropped to vertical. Its really hard or awkward to shoot BIF stuff while holding the camera in the vertical position. Thanks for your comment.

Superb action shot, David. Great timing on nailing excellent HA and wing position.

Great action and behaviour in this. I'd crop to a standard vertical and add space top & bottom

Dramatic and exciting image, David. I wouldn't mind a bit looser compostion, if you have it. Was the light harsh? Some of the whites look on the edge, but my eyes are not sharp tonight after a day on the computer.

David, this is a great shot in good light. What makes it special is not only the wing position and the head angle of the osprey, but also the fish and you got good details on the fish too. The only thing I would wish for is a little more space at bottom, but it is minor. TFS. Loi

excellent dynamic pose and as noted the fish's head is still intact! love the wing position. might tone down the brightest whites a bit

Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment.

Grace, It was a little late in the morning and the sun was pretty high in the sky. That's the beauty of BIF stuff, even if it's a late in the morning, its all about the birds angle to the sun at that exact moment.
I got as much detail out of the whites as I could before they started turning grey. I think they look pretty good, but as you said, probably right on the edge on a few spots. Thanks for your comment and help.

Killer pose and details. Lovely eye contact. Intact fish is a big bonus. Dripping water is icing. Very subjective, but I agree with Greg re adding above and below if you have it. Terrific work Dave.

Hi David, great wing position, and well timed to get the great HA - head turns like this in flight really raises the image a lot. Great that we can see the fish's eye, that helps too.
