Hi Richard looks like some harsh light from the side(giving a light patch on the bg which does draw my eye a bit) that you have coped with very well, typical Little Owl stare that looks very good and I also like the dark Bg.

That is quite the gnarly perch you got here! On one hand I wish for more direct light on the subject, but on the other that would mean less wonderful shadow texture on that perch. This little fella looks none too pleased to see you! A bit of a cyan-ish cast on the image IMO...maybe worth adding a bit of reds in "Color Balance".

Hi Richard, just pulling back the Contrast slider & opening up the Shadows slightly makes a big difference, likewise then adding some Vibrance/Sat, but if you only do one thing, then dropping the Cyan/Blue within the image makes a huge difference. Nice attitude in the stance.

Maybe I would take a little off he botom of the perch and try a shadow lift. Like the graduated background.
