Nice image, great to see the eyes in focus. 400 ISO would have allowed 1/1600 speed which would have froze the wing tips better and resulted in a stronger image. Really like the BG colors.

HI John Fine image Agree on using a higher ISO for SS Normally I don't like the bent wings but for this image is very appealing to me Might want the bird slightly brighter but does go with the feel of the image very well !!!

A sort of goofy pose but sharp, nice composition, nice light and background. All in all, well done. Agree on the higher ISO for flight photography.

Great light, BG and dangling legs. Nits have been mentioned.

I also agree with all comments - it's an excellent photo with nice composition and background (and 1/1600 s maybe should be better)

Really gorgeous background, and I love this different flight pose, especially since the bird is a juvenile. Seems to be really concentrating on trying for a good landing! Nits mentioned, but it is an appealing image.

Thank you all for the comments! Yes, I should have used higher ISO/shutter speed. I was photographing Egrets when I saw this guy out of the corner of my eye. I forgot to change to flight mode...

And yes, he/she was concentrating on landing. I had the distinct impression that it hadn't done that very often yet. I have a picture with an even goofier pose just after it had landed.

    Best, JR
