Lesser Scaup in flap mode, I think my first photo of them like this.
I sort of ignore them, not sure why, they have cool eyes and some iridescence.
I had just walked up to my pond and laid down on the bank with ISO pre set as shown.
I wasn't ready for this, had I looked thru the finder beforehand, I would have gone higher
to get more SS, but it turned out sharper than I expected.

Are you sure that a higher SS (Shutter Speed) would have given you a sharper image?
It's impossible for me to tell if it is tack sharp without seeing the fill-size image.

This picture works well in many ways.
The spray of fine water droplets captured by the high shutter speed is a nice touch.

Great wingflap pose, and I love the iridescence you captured. I don't mind the motion blur on the wings; the body looks sharp. I'm guessing the focus point may have been on the body rather than the head; maybe you could do just a touch of selective USM there.

Always fun to get the wing flap!
I like the fact that his head is angled slightly towards us.
Good POV. The head is not as sharp as the belly but a bit of selective sharpening will fix that . Nice to see the iridescence on the face,

Fine captured image. The wingflap and iridescence on the face are great. Low angle and BG works well.

Nice wing flap pose on this handsome drake. The exposure looks perfect and the HA and yellow eye looks great. Nice detail too. Well done
