    Default The Ducktales...

This is my 2nd post here since I joined BPN..
The following shots were taken at Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge (SNWR) on the last day of 2013. They were shot from inside of my car since you're not allowed to get out of your car at SNWR. I was lucky to run into this but the fact that I switched from 1.4X to 2.0X TC making it too much of a lens resulting in much less keepers.. but nonetheless, I'm still happy with what I got. Thought of sharing with everyone here.

    1. When I got to the scene, the hawk was already enjoying its fresh kill.
Another hawk was in the back but keeps its distance - most likely only dare enough to wait for leftover.

    1DX | 600mm + 1.4X TC = 840mm | f/5.6 | 1/1600s | ISO2000 | Manual

    C&Cs are welcome.

    Hi Phoo...welcome to BPN!!

I can see why you were excited to present us with the full series, but our guidelines (Guideline #19) state that only one image per post may me posted. I've left the first one in, and you may post a link pointing us to the rest if you wish, or wait for your net post to show another.

Terrific opportunity you had, I'd still be smiling about this one!

Very good behavioral image and I like the entrails on the right wing.
The hawk in the BG is not too OOF as to be distracting. I really like the colors in the BG,

Big, warm welcome to BPN, Phoo, and congrats on your first avian post!!! What a great image to start off with. Love the behavior captured here, and all the elements of the environment. THere is so much to take in. The second bird in the background adds nicely to the overall story. Congratulations on a killer image. Looking forward to seeing more in the series.
