I know it's a bit big in the frame but that is how I planned it only about 10 ft from the bird using a hide ,very pleased with the IQ from my D4 with some more practise think it will fill all my needs. Please let me know what you think good or bad all critique very welcome.
    PS sorry about the perch.

Thanks for looking and your comments on my last post.

Hi Keith, kudos in upping the ISO, you would not have achieved this with the old body, the IQ from the D4 is looking very good, so hopefully going for a high ISO is not going to allow shots escaping your grasp in the future, just keep pushing it.

I don't have a problem with the perch, as these are old posts and quite common around farm fields and outbuildings. Framing/cropping is/can be a personal issue, but going almost square seems to fit the bill so to speak on this. I might be tempted to reduce the blue and up the red to get that nice 'warm, dark brown' back into the plumage, it's not much, but I feel it helps. Likewise you could add a couple of points in the black & neutrals via Select col in PS, and if you wanted to take it further, add a Luminosity layer. Sounds complicated, but there are some short cuts, it does take it up a gear, but what you have is a great starting point and another killer BKG. Not sure if there is some 'remedial' work required on the post LHS.

If these guys are still around this year, I feel you are in for some awesome images and don't let that ISO hold you back, go for it.

This looks first rate Keith. Colour and BG look natural to me. ISO impressive. Some repeat cloning is evident on perch which you need to fix. One for your wall!

    I really like this image.
The clean BG, excellent IQ, direct stare and good look at the feet make this a keeper!

Thanks folks ,Steve I will message you, Adrian you are right about that bit of careless cloning trying to remove a bit of white stuff ,wish I had left it as it was, Christopher sorry these eyes of mine can't see the cast but will have another look in different light.

The bird is cute as a button. Love the full view and the direct stare.
I'd add a bit of warmth - seems on the cooler side to me.
Square crop works, and comps are so subjective, but I'd be curious to see what a vertical looks like.
Bottom left of the perch has some repeating patterns as some cloning was done there - easy to fix.
Very nice image, Keith and upping the ISO was a great call here.

Hi Keith, love the eye contact and feather detail, and Im fine with the perch. Killer smooth BG too. Comp wise, I would come in from both sides a touch to create more of a vertical, and would try and lighten his right eye ( left as we look at the image )
