This is a Ring-billed Gull landing on the beach on Florida's Sanibel Island.
On that trip I was practicing getting flying birds in focus while hand holding the 600mm lens. It took a few tries!

I like the sharpness, fanned tail, dangling feet and shadow of the wing tip on the wing. Nice image Henry.

Ah yes, my all-time favorite practice subject! They are quite beautiful too and do not get much love outside of the bird-photography circle...and even then...

Love the spread tail, and the wing to our left is fantastic. I wish the other one was open more to let more light hit it.

Hi Henry, great incoming pose, well exposed and sharp, and just love the eye. The gull is nicely separated from the water BG, and well placed in the frame too.

    Very nice image .
I like the light and the IQ and your PP.
I am torn between enjoying the shadow of the primaries on the wing versus wishing for a fully opened (and symmetrical ) wing.

Nice comp and bird placement. Well exposed. Shadows usually don't work for me, but they're not harsh enough to distract in this case.
