    I captured this image yesterday afternoon. I cropped about 50% to get to the vertical format. Post processing in Adobe Lightroom 5, also Photoshop Elements to remove a color cast.

    Nikon D7000, Nikon 70-300mm 4.5-5.6 VRII AF shot at 300mm, 1/500, f/8, ISO 280

    Hello Joe. This is not a bird that I know but it does look a bit grey is that the true colour or just the light on the day? it looks nice and sharp and I do like the pose which is a lot like the pose of our Spotted Flycatcher.

    Hi Joe, Keith, the colors for this species are correct as I see them. :)

    Joe, the image is sharp and you did a good job with the relatively harsh, off-angled (from the right) light . The upper background looks noisy. The biggest problem is that the perch is much too big for the bird... Try to get one on a thin perch. Thanks for posting.

    ps: as a general concept, light below/dark above images do not work as well as light above/dark below images.....
