    Default Leading Lines

The powerful sandstone curves of White Pocket Arizona. A storm was brewing in the distance, and it made for a great sky to go with the dramatic sandstone. I think White Pocket is one of the most amazing, yet least known landscapes of the United States.

Yes indeed, great leading lines and textures. The horizon near the top looks to me like it needs a CC rotation.

Thank you for the comments. I rotated it a bit and did a couple minor adjustments, better?

    Hi Dvir

Amazing looking rock, STRONG lines, nicely composed. Not so keen on the smudgy dark cloud top left hand corner, think I would have preferred more of the right hand sort of cloud but maybe that's the storm cloud you wanted.. No biggie..

I personally like the dramatic touch, but its not like I had too much of a choice as that cloud was there, and it was the beginning of a brewing storm so soon after the whole sky was stormy. Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated.

Feedback..No Problem. To expand further, the niggle with that cloud is that its closely toned to the rock at that point which softens the outline of the rock IMHO.. I know you could not do anything about it and its trivial actually... is the rock colourful??

No its white, the darker rocks in the image are red. There is also some yellow/orange, but that is in the background rocks. I could do some more contrast and try to separate the rocks from the sky, but it was taken on my first photo trip back when I shot jpegs, so I am not sure how it will hold.

I have some images taken in the Northern part of Australia with a little P&S that look similar and are quite colourful in deep reds and purples... would love to redo them with my current gear..

Yeah same, today I could pull off much better work and much better files than I could a year ago.

Nice lines and nice B & W, but I have to say for the red rock SW canyon country, I much prefer color.

I too was a little disturbed by the cloud in upper left, but didn't know if you had some shots without it to chose from. If not, then you did what you could.

It's a dramatic image that I think could be made even more powerful in color. I do applaud your desire to experiment and try different views. I don't think the upper left cloud is that distracting except that it seems to add noise to the image. Very well composed.

Hi Dvir, love the leading lines and the B&W conversion too...my only concern is for the noisy-look of the storm cloud. I think you could get away with darkening the storm cloud a little more to add a bit more of a dramatic touch to the skies. Nice work!
