    Default Red-flanked bluetail

This little fella is quite famous and a favourite of the visitors having spent the last five winters in the 'tsubaki' or camellia bushes which surround the office and observation building at the local bird center. They are residents here which breed at high altitudes moving to lower ground for the winter.

    Shooting info:

60D, 500F4 ii, tripod, manual focus, manual exposure, ISO 500, SS 1/100 at F6.3

C&C most welcome, thanks for looking.

What a stunning little bird and you've done very well showcasing it. I love seeing all the intricacies of its feet! Lovely colors and BG, and the perch works well. You've really done a great job giving us all the feather details.

What a lovely bird Dave and you have captured it well.

I would have liked it a little more off center but other than that can't fault it.

Excellent shot Dave, the head angle isn't perfect but the eye is good 'n sharp. The greens in the background - I think it might be good to lower the saturation just a little and maybe add a little NR or surface blur, and then as they say in USA it will rock!

What a beautiful little bird, one that I hadn't seen before. Exposure looks great and the details look impeccable. BG, perch all good. A bit more head turn our way is all I could wish for, but no biggie.
Your last two posts have introduced me to beautiful new species. I've gotta go back and look for your older posts. Well done, Dave

Thanks for the comments everyone, I'll lower the saturation a touch.

Sid thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed viewing this and the previous post :) I'm fairly new to all this so your search for older posts shouldn't take long as there aren't many.

    All the best, D J.
