Default Snowy Owl In Pastel Sky.

    Attached Images Attached Images

What looked to be a full gray day ended with a bit of colour in the thinning clouds during the late afternoon. When this individual perched on a low fence post I aligned it with the thin band of subtle pastel colours in anticipation of the take off pose against it (almost everything outside of this frame was simply pale gray or white).

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/4, ISO 800, natural light handheld, added canvas at left and below, cropped at right and above, removed blue cast to the subject and warmed the sky to match closest to what I remembered. Baited.

The soft tropical colors of the background add great value.
Love the flipped-C shape of the wing flair.
The only thing I would suggest is trying a minor tweak with levels to get everything you can out of this white bird. Something like this:

Beautiful, love the pastel shading of the BG, it compliments the white of the owl perfectly.

You're killing me with this one, Daniel. The BG colors make this one extra special and that pose is just out of this world. I might consider brightening the whites just a tad.

Amazing shot Dan, I must admit I have made the whites darker and lighter using various techniques but it looks pretty darned good to me - top notch stuff! The only suggestion is a little more DOF may have been beneficial but at that distance I realise that changing the f stop would have had very little effect. So all I can say is terrific shot - just wish it was mine!!

Daniel, I have been enjoying your recent Snowy captures as of late, I like comp. on this one and such nice eye contact. but the soft background colors are so sweet on this one.

PAstel Is right, What an amazing shot Daniel!

Love the bird itself but I also love the suttle play of colors in the BG. The bird's contrast really make the bird pop out.

I usually prefer sharp wingtips but I like the blur on the far wingtip here. Just beautiful

Super wing position and you nailed the techs on this. Like the slightly blured wingtips giving the feel of motion

    BG is awesome
