This was taken at Fort Desoto, Florida. After doing some fishing the Egret flew into the pine tree to do some preening. I like the spike theme in this image, he was about 20 feet up the tree. A little cloning in the upper BG. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

    Jim:

I agree, the spikey motif works well here!

Nice eye, soft light, good that the head, shoulders are free of merges.

Small point, I might consider burning in the LLC just a sliver to reduce the pull of the brighter foliage.

    Well seen.

    Cheers

Gorgeous quality image, love it as it is, I like the pine needles in front, those feathers are to die for! (well I think they did in years gone by)

Quite a unique Reddish Egret image Jim, and you are right about the spike theme. I also like that lone cone at right. Super nice.

Well the setting is pretty dang amazing. I can't remember ever seeing a reddish egret posed up in long needle pines like this. It's visually cool to see how the egrets erect head and neck plumage echoes the look of the pine needles. Beautiful and unique image of this species sir.

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. Daniel I composed the image this way to include that pine cone.

Just looking through all images for the IOTW and noticed colors appear off on this, Jim. If I had to guess, I'd say blue cast. Super hairdo captured!
