    Default Hello

Ive been looking at this site for a couple of weeks and realize I'll definitely be sticking around so just wanted to say hi. I am a hobbyist and I have been interested in wildlife photography for a while. I have been focusing on bird photography in particular for the last couple of years, and getting more and more serious about it every day. I would love to have more time to engage in it but work and family take up a lot of my time.

This site is wonderful and I'm amazed how much I've learned through it in just a few weeks.
    Thanks all
    Jeff

    Welcome,

You have picked the right place to learn. I too am fairly new to the forum and I pick up new things almost everytime I stop by.

Thanks all. I am looking forward to posting some images soon. I have been reading criteria for posting pictures and there is one thing I am not sure of; is it customary to show only your best work, or can you post something that might not be the best but would like to learn how to improve upon.
    Thanks,
    jeff

    Hi Jeff,
I would recommend posting your first images here on ETL (Eager to Learn) ...We get some really great critiques and discussions there....sometimes it takes a bit of time for our Pro's to stop by that forum.... it's well worth the wait..... AND, it's a great place to to get "on board" and post your opinions for others too! Of course... all the other forums welcome images too!

Welcome aboard, Jeff. It's a pleasure to have you. Bird photography can definitely get under your skin. I have the same problem. :) If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on a forum or PM. I'll look forward to seeing your first post. You can always start one in the Eager to Learn (ETL) forum to get started!!!

Thanks Marina. I have been shooting as a hobby for decades but only concentrating on birds for the last couple of years. I find that it the most difficult aspect of photography I have ever tried, and quite frankly it usually 'kicks may butt!' Nevertheless I have never done anything that challenges my skills more and helped me to learn patience. It really is very addicting.

Hi Jeff, welcome to BPN!! Bird photography is quite addictive, and quite satisfying too with all that time spent outdoors. It can be hard to juggle family life, yep, but at least it got my kids interested in nature. See you online!
