    Default A new year…..

    Attached Images Attached Images

I have not done a lot of bird photography in the last 6-8 months.
Some harsh personal issues I am dealing with and sort of lost interest.
Anyway, not the subject of internet boards, I got out this afternoon for the first time in awhile at my local pond.
A new Year, another Bufflehead, (what else?) nothing special, but it felt good to be out shooting, I hope to around a bit more…..

Hope you are able to get out more soon...

beautiful bird, great details. Maybe just a tad more room to the left of the tail... but no big deal...

    Hi Dan

Nice clean shot of the bird with good colours. Its a bird I have not seen in Australia. I don't usually make my whites this hot but that's a personal choice.. Hope this year is better for you..

Beautifully exposed. Whites look great on my monitor and I love the iridescent colors on the head. The taut tail floating on the surface and the water drop on it adds a nice touch for me. Excellent details too.
Glad you're out photographing again, Dan, and wish you a great year ahead.

Just beautiful iridescence on the head, and nice pose. Whites are pushing the limit, but not blown. My only wish is that I could find a place to photograph these guys.

Exposure control is excellent. Strong low angle perspective. You achieved some sweet colors in the head, which is usually the desired effect with this species, but you have to have just the right light angle, and you certainly were on it here. I'd prefer a bit more space on the bottom, moving towards a more traditional 2:3 ratio....The noise in the darker greens of the water may benefit from a subtle pass of noise reduction. The noise is most noticeable to me in the background.

Hi Dan, the light cast on the head has really brought out the colours so well, and well exposed on the overall buffelhead. Im glad you got out, and hope you get out more.

Excellent image Dan! I like the iridescence on the head, sharpness, details, exposure. I have been enjoying some of your landscape post during your absence in avian. Welcome back and look forward to seeing more of your images.
