    Thanks!

no, it was shot from the edge of the pond. You can get close to the surface of the water in a couple of spots in this pond. Flat on my belly, and then be patient and wait...

Nice job getting low ... lovely light, nice color in the water, and excellent detail!
Sounds like you have found a great spot and looking forward to seeing more!

Comp-wise, I'd like a bit more room on bottom and left. The grass on the bill is unfortunate.
I'm seeing a bit of a halo, especially around head and neck, shadow/highlight maybe?

Yes, I have to watch out for halos given how I am practicing PP for my images lately... Looks like I might be overdoing it a bit... thanks for your feedback

I love it when a common species is so beautifully presented. Nice fg, bg colors. Nice low shooting angle. Well exposed with nice details in the blacks without blowing that bill. Nice eye contact and the grass in the beak takes it up several notches. Well done.

Lovely portrait. The coot looks really good in this colored water. Exposure looks perfect, and it's nice that you had the right light quality in regards to exposing the bill of the coot. I think the plant material on the bill is a great feature to the image.

Hi Enrique, lovely soft light, and you nailed the exposure on a tough character. I do like the low perspective, together with the colourful BG. Well captured.

Great job with the exposure, so many times we see this species photographed with a burnt out bill but you've handled it very nicely here. Lots of details in the blacks. I actually like the vegetation in the bill a lot. My kind of low angle too.

Wow. I love the low angle, colours and scharpness. The BG (and water) is killer. Stunning Image.
