Was photographing some other birds and this one flew in behind me briefly, against the sun.

    6D + 300mm F/4L + 1.4x
    AV Mode, +1.3 EC
    420mm, f/5.6, 1 / 1600, ISO 640
    TTL flash at -2 FEC

    Removed stray leaves and twigs.

With this against the sun you've used your flash quite well. Love the colours and iridescence! Pretty nifty pose. I kinda wish for a looser crop top and left...with more of the flower showing.

There was a huge out of focus element just to the left, so I wanted to exclude that.

    Nice image!

Good to see that you can photography birds with some short lenses such as 300, i hope i can find some nice beautiful birds where i can shoot them closer with my short lens as well even with teleconverters, i don't and can't afford long teles such as 600 or 800 even 500.

The new big teles are also out of my reach. But I do plan to pickup a used version I 500 once I save up enough :)

I may able to save for mk1 of those teles, i even can try to get 600 mk1, but i alays thinking about getting only newest gear, also because i don't shoot birds i feel i don't need any of these big teles yet and maybe mk1 is more logic, but who knows when i feel i want to upgrade very quick.

I can wait 2 more years until i can find myself if i will shoot wildlife/birds then i can afford one of those new mkII teles, no rush for me, and i keep my eyes on the Tamron new lens zoom that goes up to 600mm bare [150-600mm].
