    Default Penquin Yawn

Ive just returned from a 3 week holiday in Cape Town, and was glad to have good weather most of the time, with a lot of different subjects. Here is a Penquin taken in an area called boulders beach, a suburb of Cape Town along the coastline. I had just walked into the area and found this fellow really enjoying a good yawn. The BG was quite far back, thus already OOF. Taken late afternoon.

    F/10

    Manual exposure.

    Stuart Sir,
Love the magnificent details in whites and blacks in beautiful lights.
Beautiful details in mouth, colors and composition. I like the pink pigment around the eye.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Hey stuart, love the yawning pose and sharpness. You did great with the exposure. Perfect DOF as well. It seems funny to see a penguin not against a snow or ocean bg

    well done!

Thanks Aidan. Dont worry, I have plenty against a surf BG, and coming out of the surf. I had a ball that afternoon.

Thank you everyone else for your feedback.

Great job with the exposure and details. The yawning pose is perfect with an excellent view of the serrations inside the mouth. F/10 was perfect selection. If you have a bit more below I'd consider adding a touch to have more of the tiny bit of black plumage at bottom right.

Super shot STu, the bill is fascinating, you can actually see how the two mandible interlock, exposure is perfectomondo it looks to me as though he is still keeping his eye on you despite the yawn - a real gem!
