    Default Where to go?

I am looking for some place to take bird pictures the first week of April. Where would be the best place to go at that time to get the most birds? I am looking mainly for areas east of the Mississippi River but would be willing to go west of there a couple of hundred miles.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Make a run down the West Coast of Florida from Ft Desoto to Marco Island also the rookeries at St Augustine Alligator Farm and Gatorland will be filled with nesting birds and chicks.

Thanks Don. I was thinking about Florida but with that being Spring Break week I was worried about the crowd.

Southeastern Arizona (Madeira Canyon, Ramsey Canyon, etc.) is a possibility (I'm going down at the end of April). Good hummingbird opportunities!

Thanks Ian but since my wife only has a week off and it would be a three day drive out and another three day back it wouldn't leave much time for anything else.

High Island Texas. Good wading bird rookery and famous for songbirds during migration. Especially if we get a cold front.

Thanks Jeff. Is High Island near Galveston? I was in Galveston between Thanksgiving & New Years and thought about going back for "Feather Fest" but not sure.

Yes, if you take the ferry it's only about 35 miles northeast of Galveston.
