    Default new 1DX firmware available

Canon has released a new firmware for the 1DX

it is supposed to further improve AF under light (I can't imagine how as the camera rocks in low light as is) and a few other improvements.

Cheers Arash and I totally agree, will probably have to wait 48hrs, as usual before Canon UK get their act together! Will check shortly.

    Steve

I stand corrected, it's all there, so no wait. All download and installed on both.

If you are running Mavericks on a mac you need to change the operating system to mountain lion in the drop down menu on the site. Then you will see the new firmware and it will download and install fine.

Hi Mike, what I meant was, Canon UK lag behind announcements which is very frustrating, why they sit on the fence I don't know, it took them ages about the MKIII issues years ago. However, I went straight to the Download site and there it was, so well done Canon in keeping consistency and up to s[peed.

I run Mavericks throughout and had no need to change to Lion. If you download, to the DT, hook your camera up, then open the camera controls via EOS Utilities it just loads via one or two prompts.

I didn't state my message clearly. When you go to the US download site, it senses that you have Mavericks installed (assuming you do, of course). If you don't change it to mountain lion the new firmware will not show up. If you change it to mountain lion with the drop down menu you can then see the new firmware under the firmware tab. You don't need to do anything with your computer. It is just the way the Canon website works. My comment was directed to the folks who try to update from the USA site.

thanks, i like the idea of the slower tracking bit before it moves to something else.
