Overall comp and placement of this PB is very nice Annette, the sky BG looks good to me as well and provides good contrast.
Would look amazing if the chance to get a lower perspective, but gather you were quite close and high above?

Hi MArc,
thanks a lot for your time and comment.
We have been on the big boat. There was now way to get into the zodiacs. To big icebergs all around. The pb would have been faster than we in a zodiac. We also had 5 zodiacs, I am sure that was also the prob. Never the less, I love my on land images actually more. There are not so many on earth without snow
Have a great eve

I really like the mood and perspective here Anette, gazing over the ice packs, as well as the lovely sunset light.
I think the snow can go a bit whiter?
Is it noise I see in the water or just choppy details?

Hi Anette, you two certainly know how to stir those memories with these guys.
I really like the scene, colours, the expanse of land and even the PB looking away. Based on the laptop I think you can get more, but will not post as it might have gone to far. I might shave a sliver off the foot to have a cleaner edge, but no big deal. Good call on the 70-200 perfect lens IMHO, it's a great lens for this work.
BTW Just been looking at PB's emerging with cubs as the timing may work when we are in Canada, but sadly not this year, a slight gamble though.
Nice work.

Hi Morkel,
thanks a lot for stopping by.
It is not noise, it is choppy ice for a cocktail, just a bit salty

Hi Anette - I like the perspective and the vast amounts of ice here. Being on a much smaller boat we didn't get this kind of view of the ice. I guess there are trade-offs
. I guess I could have climbed to the crow's nest. I like the placement of the pb in the frame and the color of the sky too. Nicely done.

Rachel

Hi Rachel,
our boat was maybe 2m higher than yours. Your boat was when we left just beside ours. The 2m have done that. But from the lower boat I have seen such images too, they used wide angles. This pb was a bit further off from our boat. Thanks so much for your comment

Yes - this is gorgeous. The PB looking towards the sunset but with head turned sideways, and the details in the ice, sea and sky. Wouldn't change anything.

Poster photo for climate change….
nits have been mentioned, but I really enjoy your work.
You seem to hit on the "big" picture, very often,
Very well done.

Hi Ed and Dan,
Thanks so much for your time and kind comments.
Dan I don't hit on the big picture, I knock on it's door, hopefully the door opens on my next trip.
Have a great eve

Anette, this is the kind of scene that many of us have never witnessed. It has a surreal quality about it. The white snow, dark water, and then the yellow sky. My first thought was the colors don't match, but that only because I had never seen such a scene. Good choice with vertical here to include both the PB and the sky. Do I see a little CW image rotation needed? TFS. Loi

Gorgeous scene Anette. Terrific composition and the light is spectacular. 5 stars for this one. Am planning on buying the 70-200 f/2.8 II since I sold the f/4 IS version. Am excited about buying it. Gathering courage to break it to my wife though :-)

Anette I really love this shot. The tranquility of the scene and the way the colours flow from bottom to top is super.
Your placement of the PB is spot on. Congratulations.

I really like this photo. It is a great environmental shot that really shows how tough the habitat is that the polar bears live in. I love shots like this. Good job.

Hi Anette,
very late on this nice peace of work.Good choice of combo and and perspective from a high boat. Think you made the most out the options available.
Like the sky with the nice colors and tones throughout the image, like wise the comp.
Agree about the FG suggestion by Steve, only suggestion i offer is a sight color correction in the snow (measured a slight Blue/green cast),plus i would push the sliders in levels slightly .

Hi Anette,
set-up is really nice. I really like the color composition - yellow sky and blue/white "ground".
The patches of ice add an extra touch to the image and the lonely PB fits perfectly in the vastness.
Could work well as a magazine cover or an ad.

Hi this is amazing. Everything about it from the placement of the bear to how the yellows and blue go together. It looks like it is only missing the name of the magazine on the top.
Beautiful image I hope I can see this one day.
