I have always wanted to capture water take off and the wheat reflection offers a nice contrast with Great Blue.

Nice take off pose and the two-toned BG is nice...I can see why you were wanting some of that! Good water action trailing off the feet and you have yourself a nice composition. Too bad the subject is angled away from us, and the streak in the water touching the bird's back is unfortunate.
Welcome to BPN, Doug, and congratulations on your first avian post!!! I really love the 2-toned water, and the bird angled away in this particular case doesn't bother me b/c of the water trail and wing position. I do think your image needs some CW rotation.
Although there is no horizon visible in your image, your horizon needs some clockwork rotation. Let me preface by saying that assessing straight/crooked horizons was a huge learning curve for me, so don't expect to get it over night, although I hope you do.
If you have a decent reflection, your subject should match your reflection. For instance, if you had a beak in your reflection, if I drew a straight line from the tip of your beak it should match the tip of the beak in the reflection. However, you don't have that option here. If you had a clear wing tip in the reflection, you could use that. So, I looked at the water line created by your bird's water splash and you can see that it is slanting upward. I used my crop tool and place it over the line and "turned" the corner of the crop tool until the line was straight and recropped.
I hope this explanation makes sense to you and helps.
