    Default Portrait of Barred Owl

It's always nice to shoot in new locations, as you never know what you may encounter. This Barred Owl gave some good shots that I could take back home to share with friends and family.

Light was poor but my D4 performed.

Hi Mike, ticks my boxes, gorgeous BKG.

My only thought would be to flip it R to L and for the subject to look into frame, but old habits die hard.

Actually I have a series of him and many of them he's looking right into the frame. I thought that by him looking of to the side the picture would be more appealing.

    Thank You

Mike I think it's an understatement to say your D4 just performed, this really is superb the bird, BG, and the whole setting is to die for.

Mike it's not just the sharpness but the sheer quality of the feather detail, you did not say if you used a tripod or not?

Gorgeous bird, lovely bg and a sweet perch to go along. The bird looks for cute and harmless, but those gleaming talons tell a different story.
I'd consider moving the birds a bit more to the left, but no biggie. Excellent image Mike.

Great bird, perch, pose, BKGR, and image design. I wish there was a bit more of the vegetation on the bottom left.

Where was the image created? Was audio used?

Picture was taken of I-75 in Sarasota, FL and yes audio was used to get him to fly to different trees.

Arthur I have a whole series of him on this perch. I need to look thru my images and see if I have one that has more room on bottom.

This is one of the best barred owl portraits I've seen, Mike. The BG is particularly lovely, and its colors really work well with your subject.
