    Default ephemeral ice flowers

My first BPN image of 2014 is not a bird!

We have very cold temperatures right now- -22°c in the morning today. The sun warmed things and produced the drops of water you see, now frozen, and from which grew these unique ice flowers on a window of our old house. The sun was setting behind and provided the golden colour. Hope you like it.

    John:

A wonderful creation, love all the varied presentations, and it keeps the eye moving around the frame. The subdued lighting highlights the patterns without blowing things out.

    Cheers

Hi John. Photographing frost crystals is fun and each one is different. The melted and refrozen water drops add a nice touch and I like the lighting and mix of background colors. Very nicely done!

Fabulous! Fascinating that these really look like flowers with those solid centers and the ice crystals stretching out like proper petals. The setting sun brings lovely colors and adds dimension.

A really eye catching image. The ice crystal patterns are very attractive but it is the illumination and the background colours that bring the image alive a really super shot.

Exquisite! Very intriguing crystals. Excellent detail and the exposure is perfect. The soft yet directional lighting and the combination of warm and cool tones really take this one to the next level. VWD!

What I love best is the warmth of the BG contrasting neatly with the cool of the ice formations. I bet it was nice photograph away from the outdoor cold temperatures!
