A big welcome to BPN, and a Happy New Year to you as well!

Your bird is well posed, with good angle in the frame, nice catchlight, well exposed, pleasant background.Nice to be able to see the foot details so well.

You could consider toning down the brightness of the rock in the foreground a bit so it doesn't overpower the bird. This image would also lend itself to a vertical crop if you wanted to give it a try (which would also reduce the impact of the rock)

Again, welcome to BPN, and we look forward to more posts.

    Cheers

Welcome to BPN, Giovanni. I think you have a lovely subject here, and you did a great job with exposure, details and sharpness. I think I might prefer this image as a vertical. Looking forward to seeing more.

A Happy New Year to you!!!

Welcome to BPN! Nice exposure and sharpness. BG is nice. I agree with toning down the rock at the bottom. I would keep the horizontal crop; I like the extra space in front of the bird.

Hi Catalani, a big welcome to BPN!! Neat little bird and I like the perky pose it gave you here. I like the idea of toning down the perch, and I would be OK with either an horizontal or a vertical. Is the bird molting, and will it become even redder?

Happy New Year to you as well...

Thank you Daniel! The red plumage is due to the fact that he was dressed in reproductive
