Default Common Loon at Wintering Grounds

    Name: colo.jpg
Views: 81
Size: 221.5 KB

1DM4, 600mm, f/4, ISO 250, 1/3200, tripod, moderate crop, recovery 6, fill light 18, -1 brightness on brightest white, slight CCW rotation, Smart Sharpen, NR.

This is another representation of the Common Loon observed on 19 DEC 2013 at Causeway Islands Park - Island B adjacent to Sanibel Island Lighthouse.
I had followed the bird for a distance (with difficulty in staying ahead of it) to this point where it was about to have the concrete bridge in the background.

Super to catch the head right in the light, tack sharp a very nice job. Catching him in the waves must have been a real challenge. Like it just the way it is.

Good light and pose. I might be tempted to crop off a little from the top. It's a little busy to my eye.

I would take a bit off the top too. I like the rest of it.

Very nicely done. Sharp with a good exposure and a great look back head turn. A smidge off the top would be great.

Beautiful bird. Good details, exposure control and eye contact. Love the colours.
