    Default Wilson's Plover-portrait

Another close approach image. Dust spot removed this time...I hope I found them all:). Full frame. Comments are welcome.

Wonderful portrait with perfect tonality and color.
Interesting that you shot this at f/20. That greater depth of focus helps with such a closeup but I assume that there is some loss of sharpness due to diffraction. I've learned from Arash Hazeghi that it helps to look carefully for sharpness in the small feathers of the head when the images is full sized (i.e. before shrinking it to fit on this website).

    3 extension tubes?!?
Can you tell us more about that? What are the downsides besides loss of light?

A stunning portrait! IQ and DOF rocks.
I, too, would love to hear more about how you took this shot. Do you put all the extensions tubes in a row? In front or behind the 1.4X? Enquiring minds would like to know!

Thanks for the comments. I see now that I did a bad job in removing the dust spots:).

I put the 3 extension tubes between the lens+1.4TC and the body. Like this you loose auto focus, reduce your minimum focusing distance. You have to spend some time getting close as well, but I think if you have a few good frames it is worth the effort. :).

    Thanks again for commenting.
