    Default Purple Sandpiper

    Hi all,

I don't post much, but I'd like some feedback on one of my better images. This is a purple sandpiper from NC that I recently stumbled across. I saw them moving along a jetty consistently in one direction, and I thought this rock would make a good background so I camped out until they arrived. I was a bit above the bird, but that was unavoidable in this situation.

    Photo information:
    Nikon D3100
    Sigma 150-500mm, handheld
    1/400
    f/7.1
    ISO 400
    0 EV
    Focal: 450mm
Post processing included some unsharp mask, minor crop, and minor level adjustments.

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!
    Adam

I love everything about this image, especially the green stuff. Love the great look at the feet, and the fact that you were high enough to have the green over the head with room to spare. The only negative is the bright white breaking wave above and behind the bird. You should visit more often :)

I love this image! Most of the Purple Sandpiper photos you see are of them with their feet hidden or standing on a dull boring rock. The green stuff really lights up the image and the feet are showing to boot!

You did a great job on this image. You shot at just the right angle to ensure that your bird's background (BG) was entirely green. Love seeing the feet.
