Great work Arash, love it, clipped wings is not an issue, the intense stare and poised talons just convey oh so much. Yes, having the left eye more visible would be great, but hey...
Have a great Xmas.

A wonderful image!
Nice touch that it shows a patch of snow just under the bird on the right.
Technically it is interesting because it shows how to get highlight detail when photographing a white bird against a white background. It helps if you have:
1. Perfect exposure (exposed "to the right" but not so far that there aren't any highlights that can't be recovered)
2. A scene that does not have a dynamic range that is too wide. If you are pushing the limits of dynamic range it helps to have overcast lighting.
3. A camera with a dynamic range wide enough to handle the tones in the image.
The 1DX has has a dynamic range of 11 at ISO 1250 (according to the DXO website)
The 7D has a dynamic range of 10 at ISO 800 (see Daniel's picture: Incoming Snowy Owl.)
4. A RAW file properly processed to pull out highlight details.
In a program such as Lightroom it might require a significant negative move on the contrast and highlight sliders in the develop module.
I suspect that your image shows highlight detail and Daniel's doesn't because his is overexposed and/or he isn't using the right settings in his software.

Awesome image Arash!! The clenched claws are amazing...
Henry, the bird here was much closer to us than what I posted earlier...hence the more visible details. I have some that show the same amount of detail from this close too

Stunning image Arash, the talons make this shot for me. IQ is great. Might have liked to see more of the second eye, but this really show's the owl's concentration. I also really like the wing angle for effect. You and Daniel must have felt really good after this day of shooting.

A real stunner, Arash. IQ is sublime and the pose with clenched claws in way too good. White on white camo along with super silent wings must make these top predators.

I am very glad that I am not a mouse. Killer. Stunning. All the rest. The talons make the image. I am fine with the view of the face and the eyes. Did you go just to photograph the owl???

Thanks for comments Henry,
Your suspicion isn't quite right, first I did not expose to the right. I like to be conservative protect my highlights, with a scene like this you have to watch carefully not to blow the highlights. I underexposed slightly and then pulled up in post.
This is not a high dynamic range scene at all, high dynamic range is when you have highlights and shadows at the same time this scene is flat, i.e. it only has highlights and no shadows. It is not really a DR challenge for any camera.
Daniel is right, this image was made at close range (full frame) so I was able to pull lots of detail also the light was a bit different too.
cheers and happy holidays!

Great "white on white".... very intense action. Talons really make this.... just enough of the right eye.
