First off, I like this for the light, mood and environment.

I'm wondering if you have a few more frames in the sequence. I think seeing the bird a moment sooner, before it merged with the lighthouse would be an improvement. After passing the lighthouse would be another option, but I think before would be better.

Jim, Sorry theseducks are moving fast. The next frame has him too far to the right. Thanks, and I agree! Bob

I'd be tickled to get any Eider image......in the air or on the water. I like it but my first thought also was to have the Eider not merge with the lighthouse. Given the speed of these flying bullets.........you've done good just getting him in flight. Your other Eider images in Avian Free and Wild are magnificent.

Thanks Lana, It has been a mission to get good flight shots of Eiders since finding this behavior during Spring of flying back and to on various routes. I love it because unlike most duck captures you are not disturbing the bird. The spot I found for sunset light affords good cover among the ocean front rocks giving me very close flybys. Sometimes inside the focus range of the 500mm. Bob

The fact that you got the Eider is great - swift flyers. I would have preferred him not merging with the lighthouse.

Congrats on the capture, this guys are hard to get. The ideal would be to catch him before or after the intersection of the lighthouse... If you have time, you can perhaps play around in post processing and transpose your subject in the frame...
