One from earlier before the hide flooded again.!! Will be out of use for a while I suspect.
Red Rowan leaves subdues a bit and one or two white backgound poo spots removed. Thanks for Sparrow hawk comments. Appreciated.

Nice details and exposure. FG/BG colors complement the bird. I find the bird a tad centered. I'd crop from the bottom about an inch, move the bird further into the frame and possibly crop just a very slight bit from the left. TFS.

I like the sharpness, exposure and details. I find the composition a little too tight on the tail. I have been enjoying your pond series.

Beautiful potential. Does the blind allow you to get lower to the ground? The tip of the tail appears disproportionally close to the edge of the frame.

In a word -no ! The hide is permanent and gets flooded as it is.( its under 16 inches of water as we speak ) I dont like to be too low to avoid problems with depth of field. I like the birds back on looking at the camera which needs an angle at about 45 degrees. Any lower in the dark situation with a max aperture of f8 ish and the tail is miles out of focus. The lower the angle and the more the reflection in still water as I say often- I hate !!
I will play around witha different crop later. Thanks JR

Your birds are always so sharp against a soft and lovely BG! I'm wondering if the blacks aren't just a little too dark in your OP, though. The histogram shows a spike there. Maybe punch midtone contrast without darkening the blacks?
