Very nice scene captured here Dave. The foreground reflection balances the image IMHO and makes for a 'wish you were there' moment. I am seeing a bit of blue cast in the foreground, which I had a go at removing in the repost. Hope you are OK with that. My only other suggestion is to remove the partial bird from the RH border although that's niggly stuff..

    regards

Oh yes Don, thank you for trying to interpret it. I like what you've done, but I think that the blue is the sky reflecting off the ice and water and entirely expected in these parts.

Hi David, ditto on the bird Don mentions...I prefer Don's repost without the blue cast... the geese in the sky fill that space nicely...if it were mine I would evict the apartment buildings as I find their square forms distracting...I would also tone down the brightest sections of the clouds a little.

Hi David - you've gotten good suggestions above I prefer the warmth/colors of the rp. Btw not sure I would think of this as a landscape image, more of an avian imho.

Very interesting about thinking of this as avian. It does have birds in it, for sure, but I think of them as incidental. It's funny how we see exactly the same thing, but think of it in different ways. OTOH, it is a bird behavior, since I can go there tonight and these birds will do exactly the same thing, so long as the wind is blowing the same direction. The sun may not be as nice...which is why I saved this picture.

    Hi David,

very nice image and I as well like the RP better. When you can go there every day, why not try a slow shutter with this and flying birds! Might look great when the birds are a tad blurry. Artie wrote a nice blog post on that, you find that under TV mode. Was already out today to try it out. Works fantastic.

    Hope the link works

    Ciao
    Anette

PS I see this image as Avian too.

Interesting Anette. I'll have to pull the tripod out of the trunk of the car again to give that a try. It is a nice change of pace. (The link worked).

Blurs can be handheld, too, following the action as best you can -- but a tripod is a good alternate if you want the BG to be well defined.

    Lovely mood here David.
I too find myself in 2 minds as to where the image actually "belongs" - it's avian but it's travel/landscape as well.
I prefer the RP myself because of the reasons mentioned.
Why don't you upload images to the thread directly? Your profile states you are a BPN member so you should be able to upload instead of hosting on Flickr?
