Default Lots of Snow This Winter!

...not just talking about the abundance of early snow, but also Snowy Owls! As you are all aware this time its the north-eastern part of the continent that is being blessed with a larger than usual irruption of this beautiful species. Glad to see a few in my neck of the woods! I almost lost this opportunity as I could not find the white owl against the white BG...thank goodness I got a glimpse of the black spots on the feathers after almost panicking for a few seconds!!

Dan, this one is just over the top. Magnificent. Can't think of anything else to say, I'm just going to go back to looking at this truly beautiful piece of photography. Thanks for sharing.

I was just talking about snow or our lack of in my post. Well jealous of this one Daniel and I'll need to stomach the funds to fly across one winter for some snowy and great gray owls.

Hey Dan. Killer. Love the raised wings and the stare. Reminiscent of an old Jim Zipp image. I think it's a gal.

Great capture. The eyes really pop off the screen with mainly white bird and BG.

    Hi Daniel,

come on ... be true to us... this is a studio shot ;-)
No, just kidding. The kind of high key look, the whites, the details and the stare all beautiful and exactly taken in the right moment.

    Congrats

awesome shot Daniel, those eyes man, wow!
It could just be my monitor, but I'd like a little more contrast between the raised wings and the background, ditto the white throat just uner the beak.
Just being picky 'cos I'm jealous.

One of your best, Daniel. The white on white, the turn and stare just place this one on the the tiptop of the heap.

I love white-on-white, and this is one of the nicest I've seen. Very nice light, and wonderful eye contact. Those eyes are over the top! A beautiful subject, well captured.

Beautiful image Daniel... amazing, really. Question: what is the perfect amount of contrast (definition-separation) between subject and BG given the similar colors? I played with your image and could get more contrast-separation, but not sure if that is actually desirable given the circumstances when this image was created and your intended results...
