I just returned from a quick visit to Southern California, where I spent a day photographing ducks and several days photographing raptors and a variety of other birds with David Salem (thanks for the hospitality David!!!). Here's a Northern Shoveler female showing me her best side in some nice morning light.

    Canon 1Dx, 600mm II + 1.4x II, f/7.1, 1/2000, ISO 500, manual exposure, hand held

Just stunning, Doug. The best shoveler image I've ever seen posted. Nothing I would change - love everything about it.

Beautiful image - the light is very nice and the wing position is great! The head angle is wonderful as well.

Hi Doug, I just love these banking flight poses, where the subject shows off every feather they have on their bodies. Great light, tack sharp, and posed against a smooth BG. Well captured.

What a great shot Doug! Love the perfect profile pose and the HA, dosnt get much better than this. The exposure, detail, color and the BG are awesome. I love waterfowl photography and would be tickled to have this in my files. Great work!
