    Default Portrait of a Stilt

Shot at sundown. I take note of which direction the stilt is heading along the shore, and get in place well ahead of it. The stilt is pretty tolerant of people and will get very close before flying around me.

Beautiful portrait of the bird. Exposure is good and very nice BG. Love it.

Hi Grant, I do like the warm light, and overall well exposed. I realise the late light has created a 'yellow' cast, and although you dont want to lose the effect of the light, I would play with trying to reduce a bit of the yellows on the stilt only. Comp wise, I would come in from the left to achieve more of a portrait. Hope you dont mind, here is what I had in mind. I didnt reduce the yellows all the way.

Beautiful portrait with a nice intimate feel to it due to you getting down to eye level with the stilt. Excellent exposure, but I will say that you are brave photographing a moving bird with such a low ISO. I'd probably try to punch up the vibrance of the red iris, and I agree there seems to be a yellow cast (even if this is sweet, low light). Very appealing, I like it lots.

I like the light, calm water, BG, exposure and IQ. I like the repost by Stuart. Beautiful image Grant.
