    Default White-breasted Nuthatch.

    These guys, along with the chickadees, are day savers when it is slow otherwise. Here I place an open small bag of seeds on top of my backpack placed just below the frame (I could have placed the bag directly on the ground but this perch was naturally fixed in place and I wanted to clear some unsightly vegetation that was down there).

    Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld (elbows on one knee), the BG the forest floor that was covered with fallen autumn leaves.

    Thanks guys. Grant, black oil sunflower seeds work best in my experience for nuthatches and chickadees (and a few other species).

    Hi Daniel, classic pose, excellent detail, a real corker of a BKG, doesn't get much better.

    Daniel;

    THe color 'harmony' is what makes this image for me. Very pleasant to look at, nice handling of the large perch.

    Cheers

    Hi Dan, comp works well, and great detail captured on the little fellow. Well thought out to have the BG as it is - the colours certainly takes the image up a few notches.
