    Default Limpkin at Harns Marsh

    Name: limp.jpg
Views: 191
Size: 216.9 KB

1DM4, 600mm, f/4, ISO 1600, 1/1000, tripod panning, a small amount of canvas added to bottom of image, moderate crop, sharpened with a round of Smart Sharpen and Unsharp Mask.

If you have never heard the haunting calls of this species, Harns Marsh Preserve is a very reliable and excellent venue for the experience (sunrise recommended).

    Regards,

    Bob

The BG is beautiful.I love the curled primaries and the trailing feet. Beautiful light.
    Canvas extension is well done.
I think the head and neck need a bit more sharpening,

    Bob:

Great pose, seldom see images of them flying.

    Nice colors, canvas extension.

Agree about trying a bit more sharpening of the head, neck area.. Some of the white on the coverts are already showing jaggies, so not sure how gracefully the image will tolerate extra sharpening, but worth a try for sure.

    Cheers

Nicely captured. I've seen these guys a lot, but less than 5% of the time are they flying. And if they are, it's not a long distance.

It's mentioned above, but I would add a bit of sharpening to the head. That's it!

Bob, the nicest Limpkin in flight that I recall seeing. Lovely colors, sharp, well-exposed. I love the curl of the feathers at the wing tip. Good eye contact.

Gorgeous BG (and seamless canvas extension!). Nice flight pose. Agree with sharpening to the face...I suspect some subtle subject motion blur is the culprit here.

nice pose and BG, but the IQ isn't great details appear coarse and crunchy. If it was not a huge crop I'd process this one again.

Stunning flight shot of a tough species. Lovely light and BG. Some IQ issues as noted above. I ventured to Harns Marsh last year in search of these guys, but was too late in the day. Worth revisiting.

A cool species, I haven't have the chance to shoot since every time I see it I am guiding a group. :)
I do like the light and pose, but I believe there is some IQ lost in the image, may be due to a large crop?

Bob, nice moment captured here. That is my favorite wing position for Limpkin and I have never had the opportunity to capture one like this. Is this a big crop? The IQ does not seem to be there.
