    Default Okaukuejo Storm

    Attached Images Attached Images

This is the waterhole at Okaukuejo, the main rest camp in Etosha National Park, Namibia.
A few nights before this was taken, a giraffe was killed by lions right in front of everyone here (at night, but there are floodlights that assist with game viewing at the waterhole).

This image is made up of 13 vertically framed photos stitched together. Obviously even 1200px wide does not do the scene justice...

    Techs:
    Nikon D800
    Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR-II @ 70mm
    f8 | ISO-800
All single exposures - got to love the dynamic range of the D800 sensor

Hi, Morkel, I love the colors and the ominous storm clouds. Is the horizon supposed to be straight? It seems like it curves up at the corners but maybe it's supposed to do that.

Hi Morkel - great colors and Etosha scene. I like the placement of the tree on the left. First thing I noticed was the same as Cheryl, the curvature of the horizon.

You need some animals in the pool!,
Nice scene, yes to the horizon fix, not sure how easy that is to do in a stitch though without starting over…...

Thanks folks - yes I know about the horizon - had the distortion correction enabled during stitching and tried to further correct it in post, but will have to probably start from scratch.

The Warp filter would be worth trying. Dramatic scene!
