    Hi Artie,
lovely guanaco scape, like the layered image design with some nice backdrops in the BKG.The Guanako gives a nice color contrast to the rest of the scene.
Overall i do find the image a bit thin in tonal contrast , would give it more tonal variation at least in the FG.Would darker in the FG to get more separation from the BKG.The reds in the guanaco are carrying too much magenta for my taste.
I do find the white blob in the water kind of distracting, so i would remove it and reduce the blue/cyan in the mountains.
I would loose some from RHS to get the Guanaco a tad more to the right.

Hi Artie - We always enjoy a good animalscape here. This is a nice mountain scene with excellent placement of the guanaco. The open mouth adds to the image. Andreas has made some good suggestions. I too would look at boosting the midtones and also dropping the magentas overall. I might also darken the water in the pond/lake a bit to separate it from the shore a bit more.

Well framed and shot, Artie. Andreas picked up on that already and I can only agree that it seems to have a slight magenta cast overall.
I would add some tonal contrast to the FG ridge and guanaco to help lift it out of the surrounds.
Would love to see more from your trip posted here

Thanks all. I re-worked the image as best as I could as suggested above. The fact is there there was very little MAGNETA in the image. I really liked the strange BLUE light that I saw and opted not to truly color correct the image. I did de-saturate what little MAGENTA there was 100%. I ran my 50/50 NIK preset on the foreground and the lake. I darkened the BLUEs in Selective Color by adding BLACK to the BLUEs.

    How did I do?

Morkman, I would love to spend more time here and more time in Out of the Box and in Macro and even in Eager to Learn. But.... I am sure that if you look at my blog, at the Bulletins, and at my travel and workshop schedule that you can fill in the blanks :).

pps: I like the white in the lake as it is a reflection of the snow on the mountains.

    Hi Artie,
to illustrate what i had in my mind an RP

WDYT? Even if i lost the snow blob, i would be fine with the blob if the same thing was visible in the BKG.

    Cheers Andreas

Nicely done and thanks. It looks very much like my repost except for the snow blob reflection.

Hi Artie, yet another new species posted here, great!

Have quietly read through the various comments and reposts, I have personal come to the conclusion the OP works the best, however... my only thought and agreement would be to pulled up a bit more depth in the FG as suggested. I think LR via graduate filter is a little softer compare to NIK, but all personal taste again. Removing/adjusting the magenta & balancing the Cyan & Blue in the blue lake does tend to push things a little too much in Selective Colour, therefore I feel the OP looks good to me. Yes, the reflection of the snow is a little distracting, but that's life, nothing you could do. Like the 'wider' aspect of the shot incorporating more of the the environment.

Hope to see more from the trip.

Hi Artie, well timed to get the yawning Guanaco, a first for me of this animal. I like the overall setting, and the placement in the LRC. Well done on your repost.

  12. Thanks Arthur Morris thanked for this post
