Hi Jon, you seemed to be blessed with some good light lately - I presume your recent posts are recent captures. The slight angled pose looks good, as does the finer plumage. I like yellow lichen covered perch, and the two tone BG of yellows and greens compliment the bird nicely.

Hi Stu - the light lasted for 30 min or so, on Tuesday, haven't seen it since! The way things are going I think my trigger finger will seize up before long.

Jonathan, the bird and background are lovely. Exposure looks good, as do the details. I like the lichen-covered perch (looks familiar); but I do wish for more DOF on it. Don't know if that body could handle more ISO, but might have been worth a try. Or a slight shift in position to put the perch parallel to the sensor?

What an amazing color scheme to the image! Bird, perch, and background, all working together nicely. Good point raised by Bill, adjusting your stance slightly more parallel to the perch, or turning the perch just a bit towards you would have given much dof coverage for the perch. Still rocks as is, as the bird looks perfectly within critical focus, even down to the feet.

Bird cerainly spot on Jon. I personally like a bit of info in the background but that is personal. We all have our own styles - or should have else bird photography would get a bit boring I reckon.
It will be BOAS time for the next couple of months I reckon.

Thanks very much everyone, glad you liked it. The angle of the perch can be altered, it gradually moves as the birds land and launch themselves.
