    Great looking Barbet Carl.
wonderful colours and detail. Love the catchlight in the eye.
Just wish for a slightly better head angle.
Maybe also a bit of empty space cropped from RH side.

    What a cool bird!
    Wonderful image.

Things you might want to try:
Darken the highlights and reduce the contrast on the stick on the bottom left.
Increase the saturation of the background.

Nice detail showing here Carl, with good use of lighting as well, I'd go along with Henry's suggestions also.
Would be pleased to have this in my file, as mine of this species are rubbish.

Hi Carl, I havent seen one of these guys for ages, used to have them in our garden, but the crested barbets have taken over. Exposure and colours spot on, sharp and he stands out nicely against the lighter BG. This looks like a set up - if so, I would try and eliminate the larger log.

Thanks all. No Stuart but it is part of a railing I built for my late mom to get onto the landrover. A ramp do sorts.

Quite the bill on this guy. Nice light and colors. I'd second Martin's suggestions.
