Default Hello everyone Newbie from Scotland

Hello everyone, as i said on my previous post on the Intro Forum, I am quite new to this fantastic hobby.
    I live in Fife, Scotland

    I have recently purchased a Canon 7D and a Sigma 150-500.

On the attached images, I was using my previous lens, a Tamron 70-300.

I have recently retired and now spend most of my time photographing birds, weather permitting ofcourse, its pretty wet at this time of the year in Scotland

Anyway, I would love remarks on the images I have posted, so I can learn from my mistakes.

    Thanks in advance

Hi William and welcome. I think that you missed the Guidlines :)

Members may post only one image in each forum in a twenty-four hour period. Forum Participants may post one image in each forum in a forty-eight hour period.

I removed one of your images. Feel free to post the second one in 48 hours.

I love the soft colors in the image here. The image looks fairly sharp with just enough d-o-f to cover the bird. Please also include the lens, the ISO, shutter speed, aperture, etc.

I love the matching colors on the right. Now, if the bird had turned around and you had pointed the camera to the right, you would have had a winner.

If you post and image in Eager to Learn you can get to post two images on the same day. I think :)

Congratulations on your first Avian post and welcome to BPN. You have a real cutie-pie here, and the included worm is a big plus. Exposure and details look good and I really like the color palate. I do feel the image would have even better had the bird turned toward you.

I like the mood of the sombre lighting conditions you had, and the details and comp look good to me. Awesome prey item in the bill and a pretty sweet background too. Too bad the bird had not swung over towards us to position itself at least parallel to the sensor!

BTW, welcome to the Avian board!
