Not sure what happened here when preparing my post but I seem to have lost some of the info.

Anyway it is that time of the year again and my normally quiet abode will soon be filled with festive family gathering which I really look forward to every year. SO here is wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year coming soon.

Great looking bird Carl. And as I have said before like some detail in the backdrop when possible. This woks ok to me.Others will not agree but we all have our preferences. - or should have. Looks like you had a bit of awkward light to contend with too- well handled it is.

A new bird for me; thanks for sharing it. Yes, the BG is a bit busy, but it's his habitat. The mottled light was tough as well. But overall I like the image. Just enough turn of the head to make it work. Good detail in the blacks; in fact I wonder if you could punch up the contrast on the bird just a tiny bit. Love the red eye.

Hi Carl, PP has taken up a gear, things are looking good.

I almost felt there was a tad too much red coming in from the right, but taken towards the later part of the evening it conveys that lovely warm light, so cool. Nice plumage detail, likewise the blacks, I hear what Bill is saying but I think a Cures adjustment might be better. Ideally a lower POV would be great, but I appreciate your position., however you know my POV about that angle of looking down, LOL, especially when it's a set-up. That blood red eye really grabs your attention.
Need to dig out my Newman's book with the up to date names, Plovers to Lapwings, all very confusing. Hope you mange to grab some time over the festive period with G&A.

IQ looks good and I am OK with the environment.
    The head tilt works well.
I would try to tone down the one brown stalk that intersects with the chest.
merry Christmas to you as well!

Really good IQ and nice head turn. As Gail mentioned the brown stalk is a little distracting. If you are OK with cloning, it should go.
I wish you all the same, Carl.

Beautiful soft light. Excellent shorebird setting. Very nice image of a gorgeous bird. The visual balance of grasses to water is very nice as well.

Thanks everyone for your valued comments. This is a repost with some of the suggestions. I tried a very small curves adjustment in Viveza which has this feature. I am always sceptical using this as I always seem to make my OP worse. Also cleaned up a little in BG. WDYT

Hi Carl, personally I feel the subject looks better, Curves are great and quite often it's only minor adjustments you need to apply to achieve the results.
