Hello guysI’d just like to introduce myself to everyone as I've only just registered here on the forum. I'm new to bird photography, a complete newbie to be honest.I've recently armed my Canon 7D with a 70-200mm f2.8L Mk 2 and 2x III extender. I'm hoping to begin taking shots of sea-birds in the coming weeks. I'm currently working on an LNG carrier as a navigating officer, and were about to transit the Suez Canal in the next day or so. I don’t expect to see much bird life there but you never know what might crop up.I don’t know too much about the various species of birds in general but I have a good baseline knowledge of sea-birds from my younger days spent on-board my father’s trawler off the west coast of Scotland. To begin with can, someone point me in the direction of some info on long lens technique I feel that my focus with the 70-200mm and extender is not as sharp as it could be?However I think that this maybe operator error..... (I hope before I begin panicking that my lens may need some expert adjustments). Thanks for your time guysMartin

Hi Martin, and welcome! This a great place for information, and there is a lot of it on long lens technique. I'll let others get started with some specifics.
We look forward to seeing your pictures, and hope you will comment on others' work, as that is also a great way to learn.
