Sand Hill Cranes Something Different
I was looking for something different when I saw these cranes. I was hoping that they would look at each other and they finally did. Definitely a different look. Picture was taken right before sunrise

Beautiful, love the colors and the reflections.

I like it Mike. I wonder how a version w/o the reflection would look like... I see some (cloning?) artifacts...
I tweaked your image to see what else I would do if it was mine. This is what I came up with... maybe a bit exaggerated? It made the artifacts a bit worse, but the tonal differentiation is much better IMO.... shows the potential of an image like this... Hope you don't mind me posting it here...

All my pictures are original images with minimal photo shopping; no cloning done to this image. I create the image in my head before pressing the shutter. The way I processed this image is closely represented to the time of day that the picture was taken. I always process as I see it. IMO the changes you made to my image resulted in it becoming over saturated.
I appreciate you noticing & commenting on my image.
Thank You

no problem... I was just experimenting with your beautiful image... but just to clarify, i did not adjust any saturation in the re-post.. it is amazing to me that such tones can be had by simply toning down the lights using a luminosity layer...
there is a dust bunny (?) to the right of the head of the bird on the right... and then something close to the edge of the frame -same level... not cloning artifacts, but something distracting to me...
cheers,

Lovely, different image Mike - the original looks good to my eye

Mike:
Quite an interesting image, strong graphic feeling, lots of options for tweaking, but I appreciate your minimalist approach.
I would consider cropping a bit from the top, and clean up the dark spot on the upper right frame edge.
Well seen and captured!
cheers

What a great artistic rendering of these two...it has an Audobon-esque illustrative quality to it. I prefer the tones and colors in the original, the repost is too punchy. I agree with Randy's suggestion regarding cleaning up the upper right frame edge.

I love the original. Very artsy if you will. And I like the richer colors of the repost. And would not mind something in between. A point for all to ponder: if you are correctly exposing to the right the image "right out of camera" will always look washed out as compared to reality....
