Another favorite of mine from the summer. I like the greens in this image.
    Canon 1Dx
    F 600mm and 2X teleconverter
    ISO 800 f 8.0 at 1/1250
    80% Full Frame
Taken this summer at Big Glace Bay Beach around 6:30PM. On lowered tripod, lying on my belly with neck kinked to 90 degrees. Had to work hard for this one and waited a good 2 hours for this guy to land where the green "slime" was.
PP: NR in BG, crop, levels, had to dodge the tail to get some detail and light back there, DE at 5% on bird and 10% on tail area, decreased magenta cast by sliding slider +3 towards green, USM to JPEG at 25%
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,

PS Just noticed a dust spot in RUC

Gail, a very nice plover shot. I love to watch these little birds move around the beach. Your patience was well-rewarded. The green really adds a lot to the image. And, I like the side lighting.

Hi Gail, the subject 'pops' nicely in the habitat an I like the way it's 'sandwiched' between the OOF FG & BKG. I might remove the blue in the top part of the white collar & the whites of the rear under belly, an easy fix. Personally I like subjects looking into frame ie R to L, but no big deal, old habits die hard.

Lovely subject and image, Gail. The greens really make this one pop, as does your low angle.

Interesting that Steve notes he likes his subjects coming from R to L b/c for some reason I am the exact opposite and I have often wondered why I don't have more images from L to R. Hmmm

I can see the spot ... ssshhh

I am looking at the incredible detail (for example around the collar) and sharpness, envious of that 600 and x2
the green is great complimenting the bird

All been said. Personally I don't care which way the bird is looking. All depends on which page of a book its on I suppose !!
Maybe a teeny bit off the top ? Lovely shot though,Very envious of the variety of stuff you get over there.

Hi Gail, great IQ for 1200mm, and you have achieved a great low perspective in this. The light is cast perfectly to show up the feather detail, and the DOF effect shows off the green 'carpet' nicely. Well captured.

What a nice frame Gail. Love the green BG as it really makes this little guy pop off of it well. Your usual solid techs and detail make for a real keeper. The 2x looks like it did well for you. Nice work
