I am going through old images trying to decide what I could print on Matte paper for this art-walk I agreed to do in March 2014. And seeing some Snowy Owl images here in other threads made me look at the one I have from earlier this year.
this image is full frame cropped to 11x14. The 2x3 original has more space to the left... how wold you crop it and what else would you try to tweak in this image?
Enrique, First of all. A fine image...beautiful, interesting, funny, great light. I'm sure that there are many great ways to compose this. I've come back to look at it a few times, and keep thinking that the story is of the wet owl with the big eyes. How about really placing the emphasis on the bird and coming in from the sides to create a wide vertical? Just a tought. If printing, I'd be tempted to remove the white wash on the perch. Let us see your final product.
This is a pretty darn good image. One of the things that stands out right away is that this owl looks like a drowned rat, and I love it. He even has ears!!! I am with Grace on the going for a vertical. I think it would lend itself to quite a powerful image.
Nice shot. I like the direct stare and the unique perch. Exposure and details look great. No one has mentioned it but dose it have a little blue cast to it ? maybe just me. Nice work on this one.
Love the wet miserable look to the owl. Very nice perch, and I like the crop. I also like Grace's idea. I thought I saw a bit of a blue cast so I'm glad David mentioned it. All in all this will look good printed for your event.
Hi Enrique, great eye contact, and love the soft light. Although there have been a few other snowy images posted recently, none have been 'drowned' as yours - I do like the wet plumage. I do like the two tone BG too. A vertical would work, but I see a version with a little off the top, and adding a bit to the RHS. It would push the snowy a little more central, but not quite central.
This is a great shot Enrique. The wet look is priceless and love the little ears.
You have some excellent advice already. I might decrease the slight magenta cast on the perch only and get rid of the white wash.

Gorgeous. In all regards. I love the plumage of the darkly barred young birds. The soaked plumage in the facial disk is really beautiful! If printed for the wall, the white pooh streaks would look better not there...
