Here’s another one from my great day in the snow at Bosque. This Snow Goose in flight image was created with the Gitzo 3532 LS carbon fiber tripod, the Mongoose M3.6 head, the Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM lens, the Canon 1.4x EF Extender III (Teleconverter), and the Canon EOS-1D X. ISO 400. Evaluative metering +2 1/3 stops off the white sky: 1/2000 sec. at f/6.3 in Manual mode. Color temperature: 7000K.
Central sensor/AI Servo/Surround Rear Focus AF active at the moment of exposure. Click here to see the latest version of the Rear Focus Tutorial.

To see more images from the snow day see "Using All the Clubs in your Bag at Bosque: Beyond Spectacular Part II" here.

As for the image, don't be shy. All comments welcome.

As usual a fantastic image. I like the high key exposure.
On my monitor I find it difficult to separate the bottom of the body and the back under wing from the background and wounder it this could be tweaked slightly? It may be my monitor and of course it may be what you intended.

    TFS,
    Iain

Wow, that white-on-white image really shows the excellent understanding you have of exposure!

Love the fact that I can see so much details on those whites and at the same time I can tell where the separation between bird and sky happens. Really nice indeed.

Another great (and different) image of a snow goose. Love the bg in this one more than the other too. Nicely done.

This image is quite unique and is really working for me. Love all the variations in the whites. Your background really sets this one apart from other snow goose images.

Hi Artie, not easy to have pulled this off, but you have nailed the overall exposure nicely. Great work on separating the goose from the BG.

If there were a James Bond movie with the words snow goose in the title...this should be the DVD cover art. Way groovy image, with a striking bright color scheme. Way to take creative advantage of this opportunity. A fresh Bosque image.
