    Default Acratech Ballhead question

I would like to get a ballhead for my monopod GM5540 I have a RRS QR clamp on there right now for MarkII & 300 f2.8 IS with 1.4x.+ 2.x

A ballheads seems more convenient to me. I am looking at

    Acratech AZ long lens head

    Acratech GV2

would that be a good choice???

From my personal point of view, I'd recommend not bothering with a head at all and just mounting straight onto the monopod. I used to try using a head on the monopod, but got much better results without one (using a 1D mk2n and now mk3 with a 300 f2.8 and 1.4x and 2x extenders) after being recommended this approach by Andy Rouse.

Personally, I think a ballhead on a monopod is a PITA. I put a RRS QR on the Manfrotto single axis tilt monopod head. Much easier to handle.

Agree with the previous comments, I would recommend to use the Monopod directly with a clamp or a tilt head. Acratech makes a great dampened tilt head.
