Bullfrog and Sunstar Reflection
Another Bullfrog photographed this past summer. For this one I used a Sigma 15mm Fisheye lens. The Sigma fisheye focuses down to 5.9 inches, which allows me to get in very close. I also selected the 1.5 sensor crop on the D800 to also get in 'closer' to this fella. I have versions with the sunstar and versions without...can't decided if I like the version with.
Look forward to comments.

Hi Andrew - another very nice frog image though I prefer the placement of the frog in the other images. This one feels a little too centered for me. I also prefer it without the sunstar which I feel is more of a distraction.

Rachel

Hi Andrew, they are just getting better, love the sunstar, although perhaps a little 'tackie' I think in this instance and with the subject, it works! My only thought is to take a sliver off the top to remove the hint of lilly pads just creeping into frame.

PS Very appropriate lens.

Hi Andrew,
different view and perspective , i like it the same way as the other one, would not change a thing.
Well done , with your cooperative froggie.

Another neat image of "Jeremiah".
Great techs, the eyes are wonderful & I like the water bug. I am conflicted re. the sunstar reflection. TFS.

Thanks folks for the comments...they are much appreciated...I would like the sunstar to be a little more pronounced too so I will take another look at that and a slight bit off the top as Steve mentioned. The dragonfly larvae was an added bonus and I did not even notice it until I viewed the images when back at home
gotta pay more attention.

Nice to see one of these, a rare occurrence for me around these parts. I like the sunstar. It gives me the appearance of one of those hazy, still, late afternoon summer days when you can look directly at the sun without going blind and without needing sunshades. That, together with the light on the frog and the stillness of the water brings back some pretty pleasant memories of past summer days for me. Some simple dodging on the streaks of the sun might help it stand out a little more.

Lovely image Andrew, great detail and colours, i find the comp a little central though so may be inclined to take a little off the top, otherwise great image

Thanks Diane, Steve and Brendan for the additional comments, they are much appreciated.
Diane this is a male...the ear drum (tympanum) behind the eye is quite large in males and much smaller in females. I do like the 'in your face' view and have an alternate photo to this, without the sunstar which has been licensed for calendar use.
The bullfrogs at the lake are actually quite co-operative and will often let me slide my hand underneath and lift them up out of the water.
